I discovered that the horse is life itself, a metaphor but also an example of life's mystery and unpredictability, of life's generosity and beauty, a worthy subject of repeated and ever changing contemplation.

All the plates were made in the summers of 2011-2014 on the flood plains in the north of the Netherlands were large herds spent the season.
